Understanding catch rules
A catch rule defines which emails are stored in a folder and the default properties for the documents that are generated from the email. Catch rules consist of catch rule properties, catch conditions (filters), and default document properties.
If several catch rules are active simultaneously that have catch conditions in common (for example, the email address of the sender), Kronomail stores as many documents as there are equivalent matching rules.
If the catch rules are not equivalent, the catch rule with the greater conditions prevails, as shown in the following examples:
- Rule A and rule B catch conditions match the email. Rule A specifies a document type of Minutes and rule B specifies a document type of Report. Kronomail creates two documents (with types Minutes and Report) from the email.
- Rule A and rule B catch conditions match the email. Rule A has the Attachments option enabled but rule B does not. The attachments of the emails are stored because rule A has the greater condition.
- Rule A specifies the sender some.user@kronodoc.com and rule B specifies the sender *@kronodoc.com in the Mail from condition and no other catch conditions are specified. All emails from kronodoc.com are stored because rule B has the greater condition.
Configuring catch rules is described in the following topics.
